To what extent have you engaged with FEMA on these issues? To me this article lacks significant details about the GRAS program. What it covers, what it does not cover. Self affirmed status is an issue however the FEMA GRAS program is much more than that.
A much more impactful focus should be on unregulated supplements. Strengthen GRAS yes, but more importantly begin some regulation of ‘supplements’.
Yet they’re cutting crucial food safety departments at the USDA that mean ubiquitous ingredients like flour, wheat, etc could be tainted. He’s a hypocrite to let people get sick from meat and “natural foods”. I don’t feel safe eating anything in this country knowing that there’s a skeleton crew monitoring the safety of our food supply.
Do you think he is trying to privatize this funneling government funding to testing organization like the "non profit" NSF national sanitation foundation? I think I read in one of your letters that privatizing like this also helps control the narrative if there was a big food for an outbreak it's privatized and they control the narrative. I'm suspecting some kind of food safety privatization.
