I really appreciate your clear, educated facts-based voice on these issues. In this day of pseudo scientists and fake "dr's" its helpful to have trusted sources who aren't afraid to speak up about what's going on right now. The attacks on the scientific communities is incredibly alarming and the fact that RFK and the Right are literally lying to the public, should upset and anger anyone who cares about the truth and public policy regarding health.

If RFK Jr. is America’s Lysenko, what does that make Trump?

I encourage you to submit this piece to NYT or WP ( I terminated that subscription but they might print it?) or The Atlantic. It needs to be seen by a wider audience. I have written myself that we are entering the Science dark ages. History shows us it can happen…and it is.

I’ve worked in genetics for over a decade. I read publications every day as part of my routine job responsibility. It just now struck me how I never read any genetics papers published out of Russia.

I truly hope whatever misdeeds these people do causes serious harms to the people who voted to allow this. Sadly, it will impact those who didn’t.

Thank you for such a thoughtful and methodical approach. I am particularly concerned for the people-scientists, physician-scientists, associates, and administrators-who have fought hard to support evidence-based science. It was difficult before the Trump-led assault to prime the pipeline of investigators, but now it is nearly impossible. The impact of this assault will last for generations because not only will we lose the current generation of investigators, but we will also be unable to recruit and have the resources to nurture further generations. Even with a new, more visionary administration, returning the support will be a hard sell with so many needs created by this administration. Rebuilding evidence-based science is a necessary and worthy quest, but it will also be challenging.
