I really appreciate Jessica, I am a Montana rancher. The main problem is that this administration USED the good things that RKF said to get a lot of small farmers and ranchers and local food advocates and regenerative ranching advocates to vote for Trump , and then is now actually gutting good governance that makes local food more accessible and brings fair markets for small family farm and ranchers. We are being put out of business by giant multinational corporations. I wish people would follow issues not just social media snippets... I wish people would follow policies that we need for healthy children and families and healthy productive farms and ranches.. Thank you both for this good information!
If there is anything wrong with our diets and consumption of ultra processed foods, its simply having the time (and often the budget) to cook whole foods at home. This is not rocket science and the distraction of “seed oils”, dyes and other processed foods is beneficial to the “healthy” food “advocates” trying to sell some protein shake, vitamin or cure-all. The selling point is “easy and healthy”. If Maha really wants to improve our health system- they should be talking about how to get more whole fruits and vegetables into the American diet, giving time & money to families to actually cook and invest in the American small farms (which means taking the $ out of big ag who are also often owned by big oil- hello pesticides, herbicides and the like) and getting access to land (and a living wage) to these farmers growing our food. But to do these things we need immigrants to help bc American largely have no interest in pick onions. Signed - a mother, chef and local food advocate.
No way is he a net positive to American health with his rhetoric on vaccines, promotion of raw milk, etc. And public health has *always* been political.

Also really appreciate Jessica! I share her instagram all the time! Thank you!
This was a phenomenal discussion. Thank you for sharing your expertise and passion for public health.
All things considered, seems like RFK is a net positive to American health- which shouldn’t be a political topic to begin with.
Not sure how you could listen to this conversation and have that be your takeaway

Excellent interview. I write about similar topics in my upcoming book and in a podcast released this week: https://open.substack.com/pub/lindsaydahl/p/what-good-is-a-consumer-protection?r=62goe&utm_medium=ios
That was great!
great discussion. Thank you both. If people don't want dyes in their then buy that garbage food! We don't need MAHA or RFK to dictate that.
