Thank you for this. Every day I'm concerned that misinformation is co-opting a legitimate field of public health, when seed oils are lumped together with PFAS. When we are distracted by food dyes when toxic air and water pollution regulations are being rolled back. There is nuance in all of this science and much is at risk.

Shoutout to you, @Jessica Knurick, PhD, RDN for NOT speaking outside of your area of expertise! SO many of the grifters out there (cough cough Andrew Huberman) overstate their expertise, and you’re single-handedly helping prevent false appeals to authority. I’m going to use a clip of you speaking in my college level media literacy class this fall!

It's hard to express just how much I appreciate your work. Our administration is preying on people who are confused and have been scared into distrusting anything that could be considered "mainstream" scientific knowledge.

Rather than focusing on improving scientific literacy and improving science communication, charlatans like RFK are telling people to throw science out completely and "think for themselves", which we all know means he wants them to trust him and let him dictate what "real" science is.

It's terrifying.

Nice job on the interview Jessica! I was honored to have been on several Today Shows with Katie and I always enjoyed talking with her. Her interest in learning really made interviews fun and it appears she still has the desire for knowledge! Loved it!

This was a phenomenal interview. I share Dr. Jessica Knurick’s posts on Instagram constantly. Just brilliantly articulate!

Sidenote: I’m so curious because cancer doesn’t discriminate. Neither does diabetes or heart disease. Clearly there are GOP who have these diseases and/or LOVE people who suffer with them. What are they really FEELING about these programs and funds being cut? Can you imagine having a sick child whose clinical trial is canceled midway? GOP get sick too! How do they vote for this cruelty and then look their loved ones in the eye?

Excellent point that we know the factors that promote chronic disease with behavior change being difficult t achieve at the population level. MAHA has completely ignored the leading cause of death and injury of children, accidents including motor vehicle crashes and firearms morbidity and mortality. So the cabal of unqualified leaders of MAHA are leading us down the wrong path by not following the science. It’s truly perverse.

One thing she can do politically, besides run, is to campaign for individual candidates, not actively as a paid member of their team, but, as she said, "be a voice". I think there is great potential for her to have an impact on important races.

This is true- we should have no deaths from measles. However, we should also have no deaths or disabilities from the MMR vaccine. Let’s explore both sides to have a more valuable conversation

I love how you told Katie not to tell that little girl to not eat the skittles.

I guess I’m probably going to be considered a conspiracy theorist but I tend to have very little faith in “traditional medicine”. I am a true believer in Kennedy and really believe the misinformation comes from the other direction. I believe Kennedy’s views have been taken out of context far too often in order to discredit him. Traditional medicine, I believe, has far to narrow a scope. I am a cancer patient and have experienced this first hand. When we all come together with one common agenda, To learn what is really in the best interest of patients.

Hi Jessica,

I enjoy your break down of the information. One question, I understanding FDA does not regulate vitamins. What vitamins are safe to use.
